One of our primary aims is to raise funds for any charity nominated by the committee or for the club. We have been working hard over the past few years raising funds for Help 4 Heroes with our Annual Sponsored Drive and supporting our members and their causes.
The voluntary giving of help to those in need.
In 2015 we were delighted to have raised £2,500 for the Help 4 Heroes, our best effort to date, as well as £52 for Text Santa (supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Save the Children) with our Christmas jumper special. We’ve also been generous with donations (of bras no less) and raffle ticket purchases for the likes of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
We want to carry on the good work in 2016 and welcome any ideas and suggestions of a charitable nature that you may have – we like it if they are fun too.
For starters, at the 24th January indoor event we would like everyone to bring along an item for a hamper (an ideal way to get rid of those unwanted Christmas presents!). We’ll then raffle the hampers at the March event and any funds raised can be put towards whatever the membership felt was appropriate; a charity, new equipment, prizes… let’s start our charitable year with a bang.
